Garonne is one of four luxury gites on the same site which when combined make up a large property called Mirathon. The tranquil area cannot fail to attract with Bergerac in the north and Bordeaux to the west. Nestling in undulating countryside the gite is surrounded by activities suitable for everyone. You can be visiting historic castles, exploring bastide towns, wine tasting, cycling, play tennis, go horse riding, discover fantastic resturants - whatever. However, if you want to relax in beautiful surroundings taking an occasional dip in the stunning 11mx5m Roman pool and lying in the sun with a glass of wine in your hand; the choice is yours. |

Garonne, which used to be the old wine chai is spaced over two floors and has been lovingly and carefully restored whilst providing the modern conveniences of self-catering accommodation. It is furnished to a high standard retaining many of the original stone walls and exposed beams. Downstairs is the large living room and kitchen (15m x 5m) with windows at either end and features a spectacular open fire. Outside is a south facing open terrace (4.2m x 3m) which overlooks the well stocked gardens. Chairs table and barbecue are provided but a further bigger barbecue complete with tables and chairs is in the garden. Here there is masses of secure grassy areas for playing games, sit under the shade of a tree or sunbathe. Upstairs is a well-appointed double bedroom and a bright twin bedroom and shower room. |

Surrounding the fenced salt water 11mx5m pool which has steps at one end and slopes to a depth of 2m - are further gardens and terrace with the huge banana trees providing welcome shade. Sun loungers, cushions, parasols and a shower are provided. Guest can enjoy the indoor playroom complete with table tennis and board games, whilst there is a further "quiet" room adjoining. |

You are ideally placed to see the best of this wonderful area with many local day and evening markets, fabulous child-friendly restaurants catering for all tastes and of course wine tasting as Mirathon is very close to the appelations of Bordeaux, Graves, Saint Emilion, Bergerac and the deightful sweet wines of Monbazillac and Sauternes - a must accompaniment with foi gras. Golf enthusiasts will love the renowned Chateau de Vigiers cours (30 mins) and other courses 8 kms away. Bergerac with its fine old buildings, boat trips along the Dordogne, kayak adventure tours etc is only 30 mins away. Local activities inlude the beautiful sandy beach at the swimming lake of Lac de Castelgaillard, fishing, canoeing, horse-riding, cycling, tennis and golf. With sunlowers Chateaux, rivers and bastide town this is a pocket of land with all the riches, beauty and diversity rural France is renowned for. Everything is here for a perfect relaxing holiday. |
