We believe adding a property to our database should be easy, quick and fun.

If you are unsure about how to do this, or are having difficulties, please read these useful notes. If you still experiencing difficulties, please email us. We will be pleased to assist you.

Uploading your property details to our website.

To create an online property listing (advert) is very easy and should take no more than 5 minutes if you are familiar with the Internet and forms. Simply follow these easy steps and your property will be built in no time....

1. REGISTER for a free account if you have not already done so.

2. LOG IN to your account.

3. CHOOSE FROM OUR ADVERTISING OPTIONS (you must be logged in to do this).

4. START BUILDING your property listing online - house name, type, location etc.

5. ADD PHOTOS to your online listing (takes about 1 minute!)

6. CHECK THROUGH your details to make sure it is all correct and there are no misrepresentations.

7. CREATE A SPECIAL OFFER for your property - e.g. "25% off all weeks in September".

8. THAT'S IT!

ADVERTISING OPTIONS.

BUILDING YOUR ADVERT.

This is very easy to do. You may want to start off by writing (or copying) some descriptions of your property into a word processor (such as MS Word) or any text editor (Notepad). This way you can simply copy and paste into our form fields.

We'll ask you for the name of your holiday property that you want to let/ rent, where it is, how much you charge per week etc., and some other questions about the services and facilities you offer to your holidaymakers. You can come back and change/ add to these at any time - so don't worry if you don't complete it all in one go! You should, however, try and complete all boxes/ sections so as to give the holidaymaker the best information about your holiday let.

ADDING PHOTOS to your holiday property details.

This is great fun and can really make the difference between letting or not letting!!

PLEASE do put your best photos on the web site! If you don't get them right first time, you can come back and change them at any time. Good photos are the single most important thing on your web page(s) - holidaymakers will book/ enquire on the strength of photos alone. We have designed this web site to show off your images at their very best - fast load times, large dimension and prominently placed on the web page(s).

3 things you should know about photos!

Size matters! If you use a digital camera, you'll almost certainly have a digital editing software package that came with the camera. Aim to resize your photos to about 600 pixels wide, retaining the width/ height ratio. (This prevents distortion.) We display at 400 pixels, so your photos will be extra-sharp if you save them at 600 pixels. The other reason for saving at 600 pixels is that your photo is unlikely to be greater than 100kb in filesize - our upload limit.

Format. Images can be saved in numerous formats nowadays, but we only accept photos in jpeg or jpg format. To save a .bmp or other format image as .jpg/ .jpeg, use your image editor to do this. (Choose 'save as .jpg/.jpeg'.)

Portrait/ landscape. Portrait is taller than wide. Landscape is wider than tall. We only accept landscape images.

SPECIAL OFFERS.

We all get 'sticky weeks' in the season when it seems like it's going to be hard to let a particular week or weeks. Simply use our Special Offer feature to drop the price and create an eye-catching box ad within your web page. You can use this feature to promote accommodation during tourist events as well, such as music festivals, motor-racing, the Tour de France etc. You can change your special offer as many times as you like - at no extra cost.

Q. What is my email address used for?

A. Just to communicate with you and send you enquiries from holidaymakers.
We totally condemn all forms of spam. We do not trade, exchange or sell your email address with anyone.

Q. I'm not very good at forms on the Internet, can I send you all my details by email?

A. Yes, certainly. We can upload your property details for you but to keep our rates so competitive,
we do ask owners to build their ads online if possible - it's easy-peasy and most people prefer this.

Q. If I want to remove my property from your site, what happens to my details?

A. You can delete your property at any time, online. If you sell your business or do not wish to advertise with us any more, just email us and we will destroy your user account and all personal data about you. We will confirm this in writing to you as well, upon request.

Q. I am trying to upload a property but I get an error message.

A. The most likely cause of this is the type or size of the image you are trying to upload. Check that the image/ photo is .jpeg or .jpg format, and that the filesize is less than 100kb. Whilst it is extremely rare, other system errors can occur during upload so please note the message and contact us about this at webmaster@onestep-ahead.co.uk
